Publisher's description of Azureus 2.5.0.4
Azureus is a easy-to-use Java BitTorrent client, with support for 27 languages. Azureus connects to the BitTorrent network. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer protocol designed to transfer files. Users connect directly to send and receive portions of a file, while a central tracker coordinates the action of all peers and manages connections without knowledge of the contents of the files being distributed. With BitTorrent, users upload at the same time they download, so network bandwidth is managed as efficiently as possible. BitTorrent is designed to work better than other file-transfer protocols as the number of people interested in a certain file increases.
Version 2.5.0.4 includes performance improvements, bug fixes and minor feature updates.

- "Bloated but happy"
For a torrent-downloading app, Azureus is chock-a-block full of features that set it apart from the rest of the pack.
From XML torrent options to IP filters, firewall tests to UPnP plug-ins, Azureus leads the way in making the torrent experience as customizable as possible. When you install the program, it gives you three levels of option settings, for beginner, intermediate, and advanced controls. There's a configuration wizard, an easy-to-use torrent maker, and dozens of ways to set your statistics logs so you can track download speed and performance.
The layout could benefit from larger buttons. Nevertheless, it's uncluttered and the icons are straightforward--none of those unhelpful "sad face" icons to stop the torrent. In the past, the Java architecture has been a fatal flaw, with Azureus porking out and consuming resources as if they were pies in an eating contest. It's still a major processor drain, but the latest version isn't anywhere near as bad as earlier ones have been, and we recommend this app to advanced users.

Version: Azureus 2.5.0.4
Pros: Very customizable. May take a little time configuring to your own settings but this is the fastest, safest and most reliable download client there is. Good connection. Doesn't use up much RAM memory (just leave in the background). Lots of plugins including 3D map, country flags and world map showing where your seeds are based. Simply the best.
Cons: Cannot preview media files until download is complete.

Version: Azureus 2.5.0.4
"The only BitTorrent program I'll ever use."
Pros: Extremely customizable, excellent options for giving priority to torrents that need attention, multiple levels of complexity for beginners to power users, manages huge numbers of torrents very well, tons of plugins for extra features, built-in UPnP so you don't have to manually forward ports, very well-written Wiki to receive help, connects to peers/seeds efficiently.
Cons: Uses a large amount of system resources (59MB on my system), very complex, slow to release UPnP mappings on exit.

Version: Azureus 2.5.0.4
Pros: This is a pretty good torrent client compared to the rest of them. It has fairly good download speeds and a descent interface. The newest version has a search client called Vuze built right in to the program.
Cons: It seems to really suck a lot of performance out of your internet connection while it's downloading, but it's not a very big deal considering I start downloads before I go to bed. The newest version is a little heavier on resources.
