Editor's review of SyncBack
This straightforward backup utility makes it a snap to safeguard and synchronize your files, and its freeware price just sweetens the deal. SyncBack is surprisingly flexible for a free program. It can save your files in ZIP archives, protect them, write them on CDs (using UDF), or transfer them via FTP. It lets you define several scheduled backup jobs so you can just set 'em and forget 'em. You can control the way files are compared and selected for backup; the program comes with ready-made profiles to make the process as easy as possible. We also like that SyncBack doesn't use many system resources when working in the background. All in all, it's a good choice for home users and small businesses.

Pros: The installer is simple, you got shortcuts for all the tools you need.
Right after installing this program got a clear interface if you really about to backup your datas. I found it quite easy to define what i want to do, seems userfriendly to me. For the start, i recommend simple copy process with a custom once-to-run schedulded job. After that you should try the backup job where i strongly recommend to click on the Expert button which will bring up various important windows like ZIP settings. This compression windows will be important if you want to create your backup zip with as lower size as possible.
Right before you can actually run the real process, you are able to run a simulation: which will come in handy if you afraid that datas mightn't be overwritten.
The process speed is ok, you can get infos about the percent in help baloons.
After the first ten minutes i suggest you to improve your user experience by useing the Preferences, it has some very useful option.
The program will automaticly create you the - windows own - schedulded job with all the basic needed parameters then you can decide if you want to schedulde it by month, etc. (this is up to the windows functions). Seems great.
The chm help is extensive, you can find all the basic infos you might need.
The About/Uninstall is very new thing to me but good idea.
Cons: E-mail/proxy usage functions need more tests. Baloon tool tips have unsure locations (fe. when the program is minimized): after that uninstall idea, i don't know if this is a bug or not.

Finally found a good Backup-Tool

Pros: This is the best of all tools I have tried so far! The functionality it offers is performed very well. The UI is well structured and self-explaining (also thanks to a lot of bubble helps). The various options give you the freedom to do your backup in many ways and precisely customized. Great!
Cons: Incremental and differential backups are possible only in the SE version, which is not free. The report (displayed only if errors occured) also containes the successful transfers, which should be possible to omit.

SyncBack
Fast, easy

Pros: Easy to set up, extremely fast, WORKS WITH FTP!!!!! As far as I've seen, this is absolutely the best program for backing up files from your website. Also great if you want files synchronized between PCs at home, or a folder and a flash drive. FTP is easy to set up, just click the EXPERT button at the bottom of the window when setting up a new profile, and an FTP tab will appear at the top.
Cons: I recommend using SyncBack SE, EMC Retrospect (what I use), Altiris Recovery Agent, or anything that supports progressive backup, if you want to back up your entire hard disk regularly.

SyncBack
The best Sync program.

Pros: This is the best Sync program I have used. It installs in a breeze. Runs very fast and works great. Cant ask for anything better. I will try their SE version when I can. Works fast through firewalls and even wireless networked computers. Also using it with a backup USB drive. No problems. No time limit in this freeware version. Every time it starts, it checks if there is any update or new version. If you guys like it, buy their SE version. I'm sure its worth the money. I saw their support forums. They have a ticket support system.
Cons: I had some files in Asian characters in file names. Those files were not able to sync. I went into log file and saw those files and realized they don't have English file names. I had two options, manually change each file name or copy pasted them in the backup drive. I changed some file names and they synced immediately. Later I copy pasted. No problem after that.
