Editor's review of AudioStation

4 star editors rating This multifunctional jukebox holds its own, but probably doesn't offer enough to make most users switch to it. We're not particular fans of AudioStation's somewhat lengthy installation process, which requires that you submit personal information and opt out of special offers. Once you finally get the program up and running, you'll see a well-organized application housed within a decent-looking, metal-style interface. Like any competent jukebox, this program can quickly search your computer for specified file types and build a music library. The CD ripper demonstrated smooth and speedy performance and can retrieve track information from the Web. You also get a CD burner, but it's not the most intuitive we've ever used; we had to access the help files to figure out how to use it. The player works just fine but lacks extras such as visualizations and an equalizer. The trial version disables some of the more advanced features such as the jewel-case creator but keeps most of the essentials intact for as long as you want to use the program. AudioStation handles the basics OK, but considering the amount of feature-packed, totally free jukeboxes on the scene, we're not sure how big the audience for this one will be.
