Ashampoo FireWall Pro

This is not a review.

by: Chainmail2006 on 12-Aug-2007 04:58:27 AM

Pros: I can't review it because there is no "Vista" compatible version. I'm posting this so I can give an opinion and nothing more. "Ashampoo" has forty software applications that I found at their home page. Some are "Vista" ready and some aren't. Some of their software just worked on "Vista" without being updated and they only updated their most popular applications (the ones that sell the best). One perfect example is "Ashampoo Burning Studio 7.1". It's not much better then Ashampoo Burning Studio 6" ( 6 works fine on "Vista") but it's one of their best sellers. Neither of their firewalls have been updated for "Vista". Why? Because they don't make money from them.I have nothing personal against "Ashampoo", they have a few good applications and their sales department is brilliant. But if I were in the software business, things would be different. Have you ever asked yourself why "McAfee Site Adviser" goes so far as to block the connection th the "Ashampoo" home page? I don't know but with everything I've explained taken into consideration, coupled with the heavy amount of spam you get from them, it just looks fishy to me.

Cons: See pros:

Ashampoo FireWall Pro

Passed the firewall tests

by: lubricator on 16-Feb-2007 05:11:58 AM

Pros: I try out many firewalls ,

agnitum/kerio/zonealarm pro they are all good offcource , but to many questions and warnings , to many warnings about intern traffic , accept or block?

The most you have to accept

But it is possible that you than accept the wrong one because you get so many questions

that you allmost automaticly click "allow"

( Yes happens to me :( ..aggresief spyware

long time work to delete this worm.)

But with ashampoo fire wall pro i don,t make mistakes like this because if there is really something wrong you get a clear red warning , this gives you the attention and make you lose from the concentration from your work what you are doing at that time.

Not to much questions about innocent intern traffic with this firewall.like the others .

If something really wrong , can,t miss it.

Offcource i tested this firewall before i purchased it .

Before i did the test i switch of windows firewall.I tested with :

hackerwatch.org/probe/

security.symantec.com

Passed all the tests , all the ports are invinsible.

Passed the hackers and trojaan horses tests

Good firewall with a very nice interface and a clear "danger" warning

And not to much questions

And you can switch windows firewall "on"

So you have 2 firewalls , because ashampoo firewall have no conflict with the windows firewall , so you can use them both.

Anyway this firewall do his job very good , without to be annoying.

Ashampoo FireWall Pro

Seems O.K. BUT

by: pjlaycock on 24-Jul-2008 07:26:14 AM

Pros: Quite easy to use although the "Free" version was simlper. It worked fine for most of the time but it clashed with my previously installed "Anonymizer", resulting in crashes. I approaced Ashampoo with my problem & they reponded positively within two days.

Cons: I don't know if it was the firewall, "Anonymizer", both or something completely different that caused my problem but I would be surprised if it was the fault of the former.

Ashampoo FireWall Pro

The Best

by: fribit on 31-Jul-2007 04:25:40 PM

Pros: Meets the expectatives. Does the job!

The close all feature keeps you from overspending on traffic!

Cons: Nothing. I woke up one day with my rules all gone though one morning! Luckily I had them written down on a piece of paper... I don't know them by heart!

It should allow you to export your rules settings at least in a txt form!
