Publisher's description of AppTrap
From Markus Magnuson:OK, here's a fairly simple idea: what if applications could be uninstalled as easily as they are installed, in other words, by drag-and-drop. Wait, I can already hear you say: "They can! By using x, y or z!". Well, nice try, sunshine!
Neither x, y or z are truly that simple, right? What can be considered the exact opposite of dragging an application to the Applications folder? Opening another application, dragging the unwanted application to that application, clicking a button, clicking another button, quitting? Nope!
The exact opposite would have to be... dragging the application to the trash. Ah, there you go! This is exactly what AppTrap does. Whenever you drag an application to the trash, a dialog window will pop up, asking if you want to delete the associated system files too. Simple as that.

Version: AppTrap 1.0.5
"Works great for me--and the uninstall works fine if you follow the instructions"
Pros: I don't know what the previous reviewer's problem was. Here are the complete instructions, in AppTrap's "About" description:
"Uninstalling is not done automatically; ah the irony! To uninstall AppTrap, launch System Preferences, control-click the AppTrap item and choose "Remove ?AppTrap? Preference Pane". Then you'll have to remove the preference file manually, it is located at [Home]/Library/Preferences/se.konstochvanligasaker.AppTrap.plist. One fine day, AppTrap will uninstall automatically."
I have used AppTrap successfully, and have uninstalled and reinstalled it without a problem following the instructions. It's a great app. I don't get the "irony indeed."

Version: AppTrap 1.0.5
"I feel trapped: I cant delete this program! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!"
Cons: Downloaded based on CNET's review and personally I don't think it worked. Ever. Purposely downloaded several programs to test AppTrap and it didn't seem to catch everything.
Now when I go to uninstall it, I can't. Even AppTrap's own directions state (quote) "Oh, the irony" and "Someday you will simply be able to delete it."
In other words, you can't do to it, what it claims it will do for other programs!
Right now I can't empty my trash because AppTrap is still running but I can't seem to turn it off to delete it. It's a circular problem that I will have to spend some time now to figure out. Oh the irony indeed!
Don't wast your time.
