This utility is for people who want to confidently try new apps while knowing they can uninstall them easily. Drag one or more unwanted apps onto AppZapper and watch as it finds all the extra files and lets you preview, then delete them with a single click. A slick safety system remembers which apps you want to keep safe, and the log tracks all the files you've zapped. Put simply, AppZapper is the uninstaller Apple forgot. Version 1.8.0 includes unspecified updates.

Most applications end up installing support files all over your computer--so if you ever decide to get rid of a particular app, it really helps to have a utility that can track down and completely remove all traces of the application. AppZapper has historically been a good choice for this kind of utility, but unfortunately its feature set has been eclipsed by other cheaper--and even free--applications. (It doesn't help that AppZapper advertises "free upgrades for life" but hasn't had an update since late 2006.) The functionality in AppZapper allows for drag-and-drop uninstalling, and it also has some nice extras like UnZap (which pulls uninstalled apps back out of the Trash) and a "Genie" that helps you find old and unused apps for deletion. Overall AppZapper is a fine program to get rid of unused apps, but with other cheaper apps available, its cool "z-z-zap" uninstall sound effect doesn't quite justify its $12.95 price tag.

"Can't compete with freeware equivalents."

Pros: Reliable and user friendly.

Cons: You still have to manually delete the files and folders under Library / Application Support.

Summary: AppCleaner does exactly the same job for free, and has a far better UI. I don't regret having paid for it but it really needs a serious update.
