Publisher's description of Any Sound Recorder
Any Sound Recorder is powerful multimedia software that allows you to record, edit, and convert audio. Typically it allows you to record sound from a microphone, the line-in jack, Internet streaming audio, or music played by Winamp, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Real Player, Flash, and games. You also can edit audio files by cutting, copying, pasting, trimming, and using various DSP effects. You can save audio in the popular WAV, MP3, and OGG music formats. Any Sound Recorder supports the ability to directly save audio to files, so files are created on the fly in real time with no temporary files. The program can facilitate voice activation and silence detection, and has a track splitter and a scheduler. It also supports powerful scheduled recordings, an amplification effect, and various shortcuts features.
Version 2.93 build 2932 supports VOC, AU, AIF audio file formats, and fixes bugs.

Version: Any Sound Recorder 2.93 build 2932
"Does what it's supposed to do very well"
Pros: Programe is easy to use, I use it for internet radio. It will record any sound your soundcard will produce. It does a great job with voice recording and has a feature that will pause the recording when there is no sound. The wav editor is simple to use, and has the most commonly used features.
Cons: The sound quality is about an A-, when recording music it seems to lose some of its fidelity. But that could be do the fact that the sound is recorded in anolog rather than digital. The online instructions will get you started but it takes a bit of trial and error to find what sounds and works best for you. Here is an important tip, 1) turn off all default desktop sounds Remember this is a soundcard recorder and will record all sounds produced by the soundcard, so if your recording music and you empty the trash while recording, the default trash sound will bleed in with the music. 2) Turn off instant messager, aside from generating a "you have a message sound" it will create gaps and skips while recording music. The best way to record is to start recording and leave the computer alone until you stop recording no multi tasking or you will corrupt your audio.
