A real case of a split personality, Ani.cur.ico Editor consists of two programs for creating cursors and icons. The first is a static icon/cursor editor with an adequate toolset, including a channel mixer. It also can extract icons from EXE and DLL files--a minor task it executes well. On the other hand, importing images requires you to convert the image to an ICO file and open it for editing, a process that requires several clicks. However, the real offender is the second program, a practically unusable animated-cursor editor that can only import CUR and ICO files, which you first have to create (or convert, as mentioned above) in the static icon/cursor editor. You might get by with Ani.cur.ico Editor if you just need to extract icons from EXE files, but we wouldn't suggest it to serious designers.

  Pros: it works for novice well

  Cons: well why not? it seems to lack usefullness since other programs can do it.

  Icons... no longer a problem

  Pros: Wanna create your own icons (.ico, .cur)or animations (.ani)? This is the tool for your. One of the best features is the ability to get icons from DLL's and EXE's. Brilliantly easy to use, just what I wanted to make my own icons. It's got everything - all icon sizes (16, 32, 48) and colour palettes galore. This is the tool for you.

  Cons: I don't think there is. It's just too good to have anything bad.

  Pros: I managed to get this to run fine and it seems very robust. My aim was to create an .ico file from an original .bmp image and I managed to do it with minimal fuss. The image editing tools are what you would expect to find in any editing package and function as you would expect.

  Pros: Simple, easy, free, and it works!

  Cons: hmmm, a few tweeks, a few preference options wouldnt hurt either.
