A user friendly and feature rich disk backup utility that lets you create full backups of your computer and recover your PC in the event of a disaster. To ensure that backups are kept up-to-date, we have made incremental backups as easy as plugging in the backup drive. As soon as the backup drive is detected by your PC, the backup starts and all your data is quickly synchronised to ensure you have the latest changes to your PC backed up.When recovering from a disaster there is no need to reinstall the operating system and applications before restoring your personal data and settings.You can either replace the hard drive in your PC with your backup hard drive and continue as normal or use the supplied Bare Metal Restore CD to boot your PC and recover the data from your backup disk onto your PC.

Version 1068 added full support for Windows Vista x64 Operating Systems.

  Warning, does not work with all USB drives

  Pros: Backup to an external USB drive in worked, but the restore software could not read back from the drive.

  Cons: To restore from an external USB drive to a new or messed up internal drive, the publisher enables you to create a "BareMetalRestore" boot CD. Unfortunately, this Linux restore software did not recognize and could not read the 120 GB Aluratek NTFS USB drives I had used. A tech support person answered my emails, but couldn't solve the problem.

  So I switched to DriveImage XML and it works fine with these USB drives. DriveImage uses a third-party Windows boot CD called BartPE with a DriveImage "plug-in" to do the restore.

  Amacom Back2Normal

  Works well after bad problem fixed

  Pros: I was dissatisfied with the Windows Vista file backup utility and downloaded Back2Normal 1064. It worked great.

  Cons: Before long I found it was causing Windows Update installations to fail. When I reported this to Amacom, they took it seriously and went as far as buying a computer like mine from HP to troubleshoot it. It took them 2 months, but the problem is fixed in v. 1068. The cause of the problem, they said, was that they were turning off the NTFS Transaction Manager on both the source and target disks, instead of only turning it off for the target disk. After upgrading to v. 1068, I have had no further problems.
