AlphaBaby lets even infants and toddlers have fun playing with the computer. Every time a key is pressed or the mouse is clicked, a letter or shape is drawn. Sounds can be played every time something is drawn. Your own sounds and pictures can also be used. AlphaBaby helps kids to learn letters, plus provides a safe environment for kids to have fun 'typing' on the keyboard.

"watch out under 10.4/Intel (!)"

Cons: This may be a dandy app running under 10.1 on a PPC, but launching it under 10.4 on an Intel Mac has the deliterious side-effect that, once you quit the application, it reboots the machine.

"A great way to safely introduce the young ones to computing."

Pros: It's very easy to install and get up and running. The prefernces are laid out well and easy to change. The colors are big and bold and the sounds are great!

Cons: Seems to run slowly and/or crash when we pointed "images" to our pictures folder. May be too high res. We just use it without the photos, and our baby likes just as much!

"Fun little app for the toddlers"

Pros: Very simple, extremely easy to install, allows toddlers to just bang away. Very addictive!

Cons: My 14 month old seems to able to crash this app in 5 minutes of rapidfire 'typing'. Due to the robust nature of OS X a simple restart of the app works fine, tho.

"Perfect for todlers!"

Summary: This is a great adaptation of the classic "smasher" type games for OS X. This allows you to change the font and colors. Also allows the computer to speak the characters that appear.
