Stuffed with lifesaver features, like e-mail notifications or backup error log, AlmerBackup Pro can be run as service on Windows NT, XP, 2000, and 2003 PCs. This is a huge advantage over other applications that require system administrators to perform individual work on each one.
Naturally, AlmerBackup Pro comes with a wealth of storage media options. Reserve backup copies can be saved to local or network drives, CDs, external drives or remote FTP servers. Built-in compression options, like zip support, can significantly cut down on space used by the backed up data. Password-protected backups guarantee that only authorized personnel will be able to restore data.

AlmerBackup Pro is one of the more comprehensible and reliable backup/synchronization utilities we've seen, but it lacks the drag-and-drop capability that is common among this type of tool.
It's easy to create, edit, or delete backup jobs, because the tabbed layout walks you through each step from start to finish. The program did well in creating backups of files, folders, registry keys, My Documents, and Internet Explorer bookmarks, which can be stored in a local disk, on a network, FTP server, or CD/DVD. AlmerBackup Pro synchronizes files, performs full and incremental backups, and can compress, encrypt, or password-protect archives. What's more, you may use filters to include or exclude files by type, size, or attributes.
You may schedule the program to run at specified intervals, or run it as a Windows service. It also includes an easy-to-follow Restore wizard. However, unlike the competition, it doesn't offer Windows integration or drag-and-drop capability. All in all, despite the noted lack, AlmerBackup Pro is a powerful backup utility for advanced users and novices alike.
