Some Mac users want to use their computer as a substitute for an alarm. Alarm Clock Pro for Mac incorporates a number of features and options expected from an alarm app, but normal users may find other options preferable.

Available as a free trial version with a 15-day usage limit, the full version of Alarm Clock Pro for Mac requires a $19.95 payment to unlock complete functioning. The program's native installer functions well and provides the user with basic introductions if it is their first time using it. Activation requires acceptance of a user agreement and a prompt for activation of the full version. Support is available for product updates. After startup, the program welcomes the user with a user-friendly interface and well-designed and intuitive menus. Buttons clearly identify the different functions and options. Setting up alarms is easy, as is applying options. Users can set alarms to wake them up by playing an iTunes playlist, playing preset sounds, and even opening Web sites. Additional functions include a stopwatch and time index, which are useful for this type of program. Since most users will also have a smartphone, it would have been nice to see the program linked to an app to keep track of settings across devices, especially since the program is not freeware.

Overall, Alarm Clock Pro for Mac's intuitive design and basic features make it a good option for those looking to set alarms on their Mac.
