You thought you were so clever, keeping your secret data in a password-protected ZIP file. Now you've gone and locked yourself out. Never fear: Advanced ZIP Password Recovery is on the case. With its clear and convenient interface, you can easily select brute-force, mask, dictionary, or plain-text attacks to bust that password open. In our tests, the program took 10 minutes to crack a five-letter password, checking all possible characters in brute-force mode. It doesn't consume much memory and can work in the background, using the CPU only during idle states so as not to slow your system. As with most such programs, the free version cracks only small passwords--in this case, five characters or fewer--so you'll have to pony up to recover a really complicated passphrase. But for those who need it, Advanced ZIP Password Recovery gives good value for the money.
