Version: Adobe Reader 9
"Too bloated for the average user"
Pros: Has the ability to view the newest version of the .pdf format, but probably Fox-it and other alternatives will be able to at some point as well.
Cons: At first glance it uses ~ 25MB of RAM when running, without any documents opened (Pdfs). With one text based PDF open, it uses about 35MB of RAM. With two PDFs open, Reader 9 uses a little over 50MB of RAM!!
Foxit with the same two PDFs opened use less than 10MBs of RAM.
Furthermore, with reader 9, you can feel how Reader 9 uses alot of CPU processing power, especially when going from window mode to full-screen (CTRL -L) and back again, there is a significant delay.
The .cab file that is extracted from the download archive(33MB), is about 100MBs, and this .cab file stays in your "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9" Directory, causing that directory to be over 200MB in size! Why didn't they just keep the special install archive that uses special compression techniques, inside the directory to save space??
