Publisher's description of VisiPics
VisiPics does more than look for identical files. It applies five image comparison filters in order to measure how close pairs of images on the hard drive are. It will detect two different resolution files of the same picture as a duplicate, or the same picture saved in different formats, or duplicates where only minor cosmetic changes have taken place. All detected duplicates are shown side by side with pertinent information like file name, type and size displayed. Uses Hyperthreading or Multi-processors systems. Highly efficient results with adjustable similarity levels. Easy to use interface, preview your duplicates easily and pick the ones to delete with a simple click. Starts to display the results while scanning, you don't have to wait to delete your duplicates.
Version 1.3 includes load photographic RAW formats, detect rotations, new true multi-lingual, and other goodies and fixes.

Version: VisiPics 1.3
"Make sense out of huge image collections!"
Pros: This one may have a few rough edges, but it blows away any other free image duplicate finder software I've seen, and it gives commercial software a run for its money.
You don't just get a list of matching files -- you get useful tools to compare images flagged for duplication, and then you can ignore any that you know you want to keep. It's got great features and I use it regularly. :)
Cons: There is no warning that earlier version databases are now useless (it won't even load or convert 1.2x format databases), so plan on taking awhile to go through and reselect ALL your ignore settings for similar images in your collection(s). (sigh)
Still, I'm glad that Mr. FOUET continues to work on the software. When I can afford to I intend to send a donation to help out and show my appreciation.

"Nice, Nice,Nice...... But...."
Pros: it finds all pictures you might have, shows them grouped together after which you can select to delete them or move them to other places... It runs from parent directories so no need to copy them over first.
Cons: I REALLY miss a maquee function so you can select rows of pictures to delete (or holding CTRL or shift to make multiple selections). I updated/cleaned out my whole digital photo library and deleted more then 10.000 doubles. Each and everyone needed to be select individually, which was really a pain in the lowerparts. I really don't understand why this isn't a possability since it's a very basic tool what has been implemented in the Windows operating system so I rather think it has been left out for some strange reason......

Version: VisiPics 1.3
Pros: VisiPics does a better job of finding duplicate photos than programs I have paid for. It's very easy to use. The Gui is unique and fits this program well. Last, but not least, it's free!
Cons: No Cons. I like the program.
Summary: I have used other paid programs that didn't work as well as VisiPics and were more difficult to use. I have gone through thousands of pictures without a single problem and I haven't yet read the instructions. The programmer has added little detail... read more >>

Version: VisiPics 1.3
Pros: Good recognition engine, easy on system resources, small, quick, efficient
Cons: Ugly GUI, not many features
Summary: I use this on my USB Drive. A good app, but it could use better comparing/zoom tools and ability to mark all smaller sized photos.
