A2Z Home Inventory is an ideal program for tracking household possessions, as well as for projects. Using its detailed interface, enter model, size, manufacturer, warranty, cost, and other specs about an item. One or more pictures can be associated. We liked the ability to export records in HTML for inclusion in an online database you can create. Also, the program handily tracks repair histories as well as home-improvement projects with start dates, deadlines, and expenses. Homeowners and renters alike (not to mention their insurance agents) will appreciate having A2Z Home Inventory minding the details of the house.

  Cons: Customer Support SUCKS so when You get your unlock code you had better carve it in stone because Customer Support will ignore You

  A2Z Home Inventory

  Looks good - could work better

  Pros: Nice layout and "Windows" feel. You can see lots of info on each screen. Also, this is the only one of 3 similar programs that I tried that offered to sort all items by simply clicking on the column headings. (The others can also sort, but require additional mouse clicks, filters, etc.)

  Cons: I needed a program that could display pictures (item and scan of receipt). Wile this program allows you to have at least 2 pics per item, viewing the 2nd picture requires a bit of work. Also, the program does not keep a copy of your item - your pictures must remain on the computer at all times; if you delete them off the hard drive they will no longer show up in the program. Also, I could not get the program to display a picture unless that picture was physically in the programs Gallery directory. That required making either a copy or moving all my pics to their directory. Neither of these problems occured with another program called Frostbow Home Inventory which I have now purchased after trying at least 3 different such programs.
