Update disabled all of my Firefox extensions!
Pros: Nothing. (See below.)
Cons: I have spent years tailoring Firefox to my needs -- all gone. I now am plagued with slow cite downloads, multiple advertisements and pop ups. The disabled extensions cannot be removed, reinstalled, or reactivated. Former Firefox booster.
Same here - 2.0.0.14 breaks extensions
Yes - the 2.0.0.14 update broke most of my extensions - Tabmix Plus, IE Tab, Google Toolbar, ForecastFox, Better Gmail, Fullscreen, Print/PrintPreview, etc. Firefox was worthless without the extensions. Might as well use Safari. Fortunately, I had a backup of my hard drive, from which I was able to copy back the 2.0.0.13 versions of the folders \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox, \Documents and Settings\My Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox ,and \Documents and Settings\My Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox. With those folders restored to the pre 2.0.0.14 contents, Firefox was back to running the 2.0.0.13 version, normally, with all the extensions functioning again. Then I disabled the automatic downloading of updates. When it gets to the point that I can't run Firefox with any of the common useful extensions, then I'm done with Firefox. A shame that in the name of progress, they're tossing out the features that make Firefox better and more desirable.
there's a way to fix that
I used the "about:config" route and enabled MOST of my firefox 2 extensions for by 3 Beta 5. Goto LifeHackers.com and search for firefox 3 beta extensions...you should see an article for it... I would suggest that you disable all your extensions in firefox 2 before you configure your firefox 3 for the extensions. I had an issue where my FF2 add-ons actually crashed my FF3b5.
yes. you can fix that
I've also used the about:config to enable my extensions from the previous Firefox versions.
