AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

by: Omega Weapon on 14-May-2008 01:04:55 AM

Pros: Well all know that AVG is probably the most popular anti-virus in the whole world with over 1000000 downloads each week. It has an elegant, easy to use and user friendly interface and detects almost everything..however...

Cons: AVG has a serious problem. It appears that the auto-protect feature which comes with all the other anti-viruses is actually missing here!! So, What is the point of having an anti-virus that doesn't detect or fix anything until you start it's anti-virus scan manually?

Not true - on-access protection is there

In AVG, it is called 'Resident Shield'. So definitely is there!

Wrong - this is false

Resident Shield and email scanner are both running by default, in the free home edition. This is the "live" real time protection you need.

Ditto to the other two replys. Resident Shield is the real time protection you are speaking of and it is turned on by default. Actually in ver 8 it is now much easier to turn it off (for trouble shooting or install other apps, etc.) than in previous versions.
