Really starting to believe MS is a mess right now!
Pros: I'm really starting to believe MS is a mess right now! I haven't a clue what the "H" is going on at Microsoft these days but it's not looking to good. They release SP-1 for Vista, crashed my system three separate times. Second and third was on me, (fool me once, you know how the saying goes)! Now today for the first time on my Windows XP Pro hard drive, SP-3 shows up as an important update. Failed to install 3 separate times. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to hide it like I could SP-1 on Vista. After reading these other 4 of 5 reviews, I'll consider myself lucky and forget it. I'm having serious doubts about the competency of the engineers employed at Microsoft these days. I've changed my auto-updating settings already. Recommend forgetting about this Service Pack for a while, at least.
Cons: Please read pros. People, I wouldn't trust these new SP releases for nothing.
Got it to install in safe mode
It failed 3 attempts to install, 1 from automatic download and 2 from full exe file. It hung at reviving processes (the penultimate phase)..so had to unistall. I checked out some other user's problems and one successfully tried installing under safe mode..well that worked for me thank goodness. Hope that may help out there. There is lots of info on the BSOD at boot up as well. Not very professional though is it!!
