Publisher's description of 7tools Partition Manager
From Paragon Technologie:
7tools Partition Manager 2005 offers an extended range of functions to make your data management easier. With its help you can deploy a new hard drive and copy your data and partitions; install and use multiple operation systems and share files between them; organize better data storage for multiuser computers; and recover your computer after a system crash and secure important data by moving it to a separate partition. The advantage of the product is an increased level of data protection. You will not lose your data during partitioning operations; a number of wizards can help even unexperienced users to perform most complicated partitioning operations; and all major file systems are supported: FAT 16/32, NTFS, Ext2/3FS, and ReiserFS.

Editor's review of 7tools Partition Manager
7tools Partition Manager includes everything you need to manage your hard drive partitions. It enables you to partition a drive, merge, ""defrag,"" or recover partitions, as well as change their properties. The most convenient feature is you don t have to quit Windows to run the program. To start, you choose the actions you want performed while Windows is running normally, and then press ""Apply"" to push the changes through. The interface is intuitive. You can resize hard drive partitions by simply dragging and dropping items from one list to another. The program includes easy-to-use wizard dialogs for the most common routines, such as merging partitions, redistributing disk space or recovering partitions. The biggest drawback, however, is the trial version doesn t let you apply changes you've made--which makes it tough to test how the program truly performs. From what we've seen so far, we think it might be worth the download. Overall, it's a useful, intuitive program for managing hard drives.

7tools Partition Manager
Look at this.

Pros: Worked great. I haven't tried all the other products,
but this one did not "Magically" screw up my boot sector, like
some other unmentionable. (So far as I know)
Cons: Had to install into Windows. Took a whole hour to redistribute data, and resize partitions on an 80G HD. Whooee

7tools Partition Manager
Great tool, worked when Partition Magic wouldn't

Pros: Was able to work on my HD which Partition Magic refused to due to my dynamic drive overlay. I'm using a 300GB Western Digital HD and since my computers BIOS doesn't support HDs of that size I had to install a dynamic drive overlay. This partitioning tool has worked great, I have been able to convert my drives from NTFS to FAT32 without losing any files and have been able to resize partitions also without losing any files, I highly recommend this program!
Cons: Windows native version didn't recognize partitions although Windows fully recognizes them, had to boot off floppies and partition in DOS version instead

7tools Partition Manager
Can do what others can't
by: calvin44frank

Pros: Repaired Master Boot Record of external drive that had stymied all attempts. Windows wouldn't recognize the drive in Disk Management although Hardware Manager reported drive enabled and functioning normally, and third-party data recovery tools could see it. Couldn't use DOS-based partitioning tools because the drive was IEEE 1394 (Firewire) and couldn't be seen from the recovery DOS. Partition Magic gave up with a Cyclical Redundancy Error. 7tools flagged the same errors that Partition Magic did, but importantly, it let me IGNORE them! Excellent disk utility at a fair price.
Cons: As several other reviewers have noted, the documentation could use improvement as it now reads like it was machine translated from German. When 7tools requests a reboot, so it can check the file structure of a partition, Windows seems to think it needs to check it a second time. A single check would be a time saver. There are long periods during data movement when moving a large partition that the program seems to have stopped responding, which might be answered with a better status display, especially since the three levels of progress bars are particularly confusing and not always predictive.

7tools Partition Manager
Very Easy to Use, Excellent Product

Pros: This product has a well designed and implemented user interface and is as close to a totally intuitive program as I've used in years. It does everything claimed in its advertising. I'm not sure why another user had difficulties. Perhaps this area should rank reviews by level of computer skills of reviewers...
Cons: I haven't found any cons yet in using the program on my Toshiba Satellite dual-boot laptop. I run Win XP Home and the current version of Ubuntu Linux.
