As an organizer, this application is a bit too free-form to be useful without a lot of time spent configuring it. 3D Organizer launches with, besides the toolbar, a blank interface, which gives a pretty good clue to how the program operates. Once you create a new organizer file, you can add notes and lists, which are displayed in a tree view on the left and a detail view on the right. The interface feels very solid, and you can accomplish many configuration tasks by right-clicking, but you will have to look at the manual to know what to do, as some functions, such as adding a row to a list, lack any menu command or toolbar button. As a free-form tool, 3D Organizer is pretty flexible, but we think it should come with preformatted templates for particular tasks. And, while you can automatically insert the date and time into its notes, the application has no calendar or alarm function, so it doesn't work well as a project manager. People who need to organize notes for research or school might find this tool useful.
