Version: 2.3.130It does what it claims
Pros: It allows a staggered start time which is good with all the necessary modern protection software. And any good technophile will of course enjoy watching it happen.
Cons: I like it. I just hate computers.

AbiWord
Version: 2.6.3interesting; good product
Pros: Not confined to Window/Word type *.doc files, fast, trim, easy to use, no learning curve.
Cons: I'm not sure about transferring from (say) *.doc to *.abw (one of the AbiWord filetypes).

Version: 1.42still the best
Pros: This is still the same great rendering it's been for years. Nearly every feature can be toggled, there are board combinations to boggle the mind, and as far as I know it's still the best.
Cons: The 3D mode drives me crazy, because of the way the board moves as one is attempting to indicate/move a piece. Then again, it's a personal preference.

Version: 6ancient web search tool
Pros: Ancient and constantly updated, I should say. The desktop search engine has a great deal to recommend it, from cookies to saved and easily accessible results. I don't know whether I prefer it to the Copernic desktop tool (the personal version is free) or not. I've had both since the mid-90's at least.
Cons: GIGO. The more customizable something is the more attention you have to pay.
