Windows Media Player

Version: 11

Preferred player

Pros: Fast to start up, and has an easy to navigate library. I use it to play movies also. Plays good in full screen. Playlists are easy to put together and burn. There are also a lot of skins available to suit your mood. I'm using XP. I have not used the Sync feature.

iTunes

Version: 7.5

Great idea, but needs more flexibility

Pros: Been using this program on and off for a year now, and finally starting to get the hang of it! I can buy individual songs from the net! Great preview feature which has me sticking around! I'm using XP and don't own an iPod or MP3 player.

Cons: Quite difficult to move around and find things. I have to use Help often to find things (something I rarely have to do with other programs). Prefer to use Windows Media Player for items on my storage device. Biggest irk is that I can't access all songs unless it is available to the New Zealand store. Quite dumb considering that it is all digital! Doesn't let me open all albums (couldn't access two different Christmas albums, even though they were advertised on my store front page. Go figure.

Recipes Ship

Version: 1.2

Pretty Good!

Pros: Easy to use and customise. Comes with HEAPS of recipes, but you can easily delete and easily add your own. No known conflict. No ads or other restrictions. Beats my current floured and faded recipe books. Just need the time to add all my recipes.

Media Player Codec Pack

Version: 1.1

Great fix!

Pros: I like using Windows Media Player, but it just doesn't play everything. Instead of using my free FLV player (poor quality) I can now use WMP (way better quality). I installed this program 2 weeks ago, with no known conflicts. I'm using XP Pro.

R6 Bill Tracker

Version: 1.4

Great idea but needs work.

Pros: It's simple and installed fine for me (XP).

Cons: I added the payees fine. I added some one-off bills first and they appeared in the overview list. Then I added a re-occurring bill, but it didn't appear. I did this a couple of times with no sucess. So I decided to just use one-offs. Then I have no idea what happened, but one of the bills switched to recurring, and I couldn't edit it or change it (buttons blanked out). Then the couple of bills I had entered, all disappeared from the overview (note: all bills are due this week).
