AlfaClock Free

"tested spyware free" no-brainer malware

Pros: spyware. Kaspersky caught a program trying to copy itself into the registry shortly after install. Trend Micro's anti-spy fingered the culprit, complete info package naming the dirty components, the name of the trojan, and even the website of the company that made it (abetterinternet.com).

Cons: Deleted the dirty component (turned out to be the uninstaller), the associated registry entry, and now I have a very useful program that I will keep without the spyware. Thanks Alfaclock!

Russian - Sounding - Guy - So You Know It's Good

Pros: I wrote a one-star review on another program which was ***** so to be fair I am compelled to comment on this brilliant innovation. The Editor's analogy of a dirty window is good. But I had a lingering concern on my Vista Reliability and Performance Monitor under Network: a connection address listed as 'joshua'. Sounded too much like someone's home PC. PerfMon gives no options for additional information or manipulating the process. TaskMan is... better in Vista, but... you know. I tried 'Advanced' Firewall then more Microsoft like Event Logger, even downloading 'Microsoft Network Monitor'. Usefull... if you're the type that enjoys speaking Hex Binary to blind (online) dates. In other words all the programs were either too simple (insulting user intelligence) or too technical (again insulting user intelligence) to be of any use. Taskinfo gave me information on EVERY conceivable angle of this process and even let me suspend it to test its behaviour. The ability to flush RAM from the taskbar while engaging in other tasks is brilliant. The program continues to run even after it's 30-day trail, only then introducing a registration reminder. I and hope to be able to pay for this work of art soon and sincerely wish this author well. And Yes, it does display active memory in the taskbar, both actual and virtual.
