CD Playback with Severe Sound Distortions
Pros: Opera 9.5 has a wonderful user interface!
Cons: Last Monday I updated Opera to 9.5 and as a result I can no longer play audio CDs without severe sound distortions. It does not matter which player is used, Windows Media Player or InterVideo WinDVD 8 etc. Audio files played directly from the hard disk are not effected.
As strange as this claim is I have verified that it is completely true. Yesterday I tested another computer I put in an audio CD and it played flawlessly then I updated Opera and restarted the computer and found that I could no longer play an audio CD without severe sound distortions. Audio files played directly from the hard disk remain un effected. At that point I deleted Opera and used System Restore but the sound distortions remain.
This is a rather odd predicament. As I'm sure you can imagine, installing or upgrading Opera should and would not interfere with CD playback in any comprehensible way.
