ACDSee Photo Manager

Version: 9 build 108

Just hit the pass mark

Pros: ACDSee Photo Manager is good program in general. It does the job as it claims. It is quite user friendly too. A credit to a set of batch tools such as batch rename, batch resize etc.

Cons: The program does eat up a lot of hard disc space. I do mean "a lot"! The program will generate some files (.cdx, .fpt) in your "application data" directory such as thumb2.fpt and thumb2.fpt ... ... These can be a few Mbtye. It can grow bigger and bigger. This may slow your machine down or even crash if you use the program long enough. My note book has 80G hard-disc with a usb 120G hard-disc. I can just get along with the program with a number of crashes each week. I eventually uninstalled the program entirely. I now use ComputPic. It is a bit more expensive than ACDSee with less functions. However, it is more stable and will not generate the database files that I hate!

Mp3 My Mp3 Recorder

Version: 2.0

A good example of Freeware.

Pros: The installation is simple and easy to use. I think most people will find it easy enough to use straight away. I have used/tested the program 6 times for up to 33 mins at one time. I had no problem with the program. I used 32 bits for recording. I use another freeware "Audacity 126" to size down the file. They are seems the perfect match. If the storage of the hard drive is at premium, remember not to save the recording in wav format.

Thanks CNETdownload and Digital Liquid

Who knows???

Cons: The download link to a file named "3". It is not the program. (I give a star as it is the least requirement.)

Solid Converter PDF to Word

Version: 3.1 build 437

Feeling not safe!!

Cons: I agreed with a number of reviewer here that some (may be most) of the reviews are fake. The writing style are quite similar between some reviews. The most ridiculous things are some reviews are identical but under different name. (I give it a five STARS!)

Lack of pace of mind!

Pros: The output is good! (the doc is not exactly the same as the pdf file, but fairly close to it.) There were some broken string of words. This program could be a lot better if it does as what the publisher claims it would.

Cons: When I first run the program after the installation. I had "16 Dos error warning from my XP. I opted for "ignore" and run the program. I eventually decided to uninstall the program after 1 try.
