Kandyan Vista Icons

Version: 1

Amateurish, designs not original

Pros: Program isn't buggy.

Cons: The icons itself though, are amateurish. Probably best suited for kids, but not for me. It's also too similar to iCandy Junior. The new Aqua theme the author is working on is quite similar to the Crystal set. Overall, this is nothing new, the designs and color schemes aren't original and the icons themselves look unprofessional.

POP Peeper

Version: 3.2

The best multi-account multi-server email notifier!

Pros: - Small

- Portable

- Light on resources

- Supports POP3/IMAP/Webmail

- Supports HTML mail and allows you to reply to mails too

- Nice notification options

With POP Peeper, I've never felt the need to use a full fledged email client. All my mail is sorted out automatically at my server end, so I need an app that can notify and allow me to quickly read/reply/delete new mails. POP Peeper supports HTML mail too, unlike other programs of this type.

Best of all, it works seamlessly with Yahoo, Hotmail and other web-based services.

Cons: - No option to make it the default mail client

- Needs filters/folders

- Needs spam filters

Cool PDF Reader

Version: 1.0.0.64

Too buggy and incomplete

Pros: - Small size

- exe opens fast

Cons: - No hotkey to zoom; no ctrl+scroll support either

- Slow loading of PDF files, compared to Foxit or even Adobe

- Buggy rendering: Some PDFs aren't rendered properly. Eg: xil.in/cpdf

- Every time the window is resized or zoomed or different page loaded, Cool PDF takes ages to redraw the screen

- No "bookmarks" or ToC browsing/navigation pane.

- Cannot scroll pages using a scroll wheel

- No keyboard hotkeys either for navigation (Except for Ctrl+G), even arrow keys don't work!

- When you scroll down a page, the toolbar also disappears!

- Doesn't support searching

- "Fullscreen" only maximizes the window! (Doesn't hide the menubar and toolbar!)

--

So if you really need a PDF reader and don't have one installed, I suggest using Google's "HTML View" - it has more features than Cool PDF!

Onspeed

Version: 6

The best web accelerator ever!

Pros: What's new in version 6:

? Improvements to NOW!Imaging?

? Better Vista Compatibility

? GUI Improvements - Bubble notification can be turned off

What I like about this software:

? You can try out a demo version of it before buying! This may not seem like a big deal, but none of the commercial accelerators are available for a free trial (Nitro, Artera, Propel, etc)

? Image compression is quite good. Other accelerators like Artera compress the image so much that they loose a lot of color. With the highest quality image compression in Onspeed, simple graphics are quite bearable.

? Also supports acceleration of mail and flash.

? Built in Ad and Popup blocking

? No privacy issues (like the ones found in Google Web Accelerator)

? No compatibility issues (GWA is incompatible with many sites)

? Free and live chat support. Even if you're a trial user or haven't even downloaded Onspeed yet, you can talk to a real support person and get help!

Cons: A few Vista (UAC) issues to be sorted out
