Much better than previous version

Pros: Here's what I like about version 7.5

1. The interface is redesigned. It doesn't look like it belongs in Windows 98 anymore, it looks much more XP like.

2. Better heuristics, the heuristics are better than in the previous free version and it has the option to scan for alternate NTFS data streams.

3. It's free!

4. Does a great job at scanning, way better than norton or mcafee and doesn't use much memory. I tried NOD32 and AVG actually uses less memory. It only uses about 1MB of memory while idle which is impressive. It also doesn't use much while scanning and scans are pretty fast.

5. Smallest updates i've ever seen. I hate waiting for updates and then come to find out you have to restart your PC after waitinf 10 minutes for files to download. This isn't the care with AVG! Updates take seconds and they're in KB (yes Kilobytes!) When I first installed it the whole update was only about 64KB which is really small.

I can't recommend this program enough. If you're looking for a free antivirus that won't slow you down and is powerful, get this!

AVG come a long way since version 7.1 and I think grisoft is a great company who makes outstanding products.

Cons: The only thing I don't like is that there's no anti-spyware built in but you can download AVG antispyware free edition for that.

Much better and more improved!

Pros: Here's what I liked:

1. The dock. I always wondered when this feature would be included. It's about time they put it in and it was well worth the wait

2. Memory usage. The RAM usage in this version is about 1/5 of what it was in the previous version so I can have more widgets open and not have a drastic performance decrease

3. The interface is very nice and vista like. I'm not running vista yet but with this program, I don't see much reason to!

Cons: The only complaint I have is that when you first install the program bombards you with an annoying and pretty much pointless tutorial (unless you're new to the program) I wish there was an option to disable that but other than that it's a flawless program.

Excellent product!

Pros: 1. Low memory usage: It's hard to find a firewall that offers good protection and low memory usage. It seems you either get high RAM usage and little protection, or low memory usage with no protection or a hard to use program; at least in my experience. Comodo doesn't use much RAM and offers rock solid protection for free.

2. The interface is pretty nice looking. I'm not focused on the interface but this program has a neat one. Reminds me a bit of the XP media center theme.

3. Easy to install and configure for both beginners and pros. It has simple configuration options for people who don't know how to configure a firewall or don't want to mess with it, and it has advanced options for professionals.

Overall this is a great program and if you want rock solid protection then give it a whirl.

Cons: The only con is that the pop ups are a little annoying after install but as time goes on the pop ups are less and less.
