Very good secure file eraser & mover!

Pros: This latest version adds a feature I wished they had for 5.7 - secure file mover! The addition of the swift "first / last 2k" and "Schneier 7 pass" is also nice. The free space cleaner scheduler is also a little easier to set up.

Froze My OS (Win2k SP4) - Had To Remove In Safe Mode

Cons: Spyware Doctor Starter Edition is the first application in over two years to freeze my system running Win2k SP4. Immediately after loading, my CPU peaked and stuck. 15 minutes later, I tried to end the process, but system wouldn't respond to CTRL+ALT+DEL even after 20 minutes. I had to switch the system off. It would freeze upon reset, and eventually booted into safe mode to remove Spyware Doctor Starter Edition. System performance returned to normal after its removal. I also have had performance problems with the commercial version of Spyware Doctor on my office Win2k SP4 workstations. Perhaps there's a Win2k incompatibility.

Simple and effective.

Pros: Very simple interface, rich in features, and FREE. Of the various alarm programs I've used, this one is still my personal favorite. In particular, I use the email option to send important alarm messages to my mobile device, in case I'm ever away from my desktop.

Cons: Pop-up alarms occasionally get lost underneath other windows. No way to force it to stay on top. When a pop-up is lost, and not "OKed" you can sometimes miss other alarms.
