Deicide Online

Version: 1

Few quirks, etc, but for being in Beta, and being free, this is a wonderful game

Pros: -The download wasn't too long.

-The other players I have met so far have for the most part all been fantastically friendly and helpful, sometimes even going out of their way to ask ME if I needed help. That's unheard of.

-Enjoyable soundtrack and sound effects.

-Graphics were acceptable, nothing fancy at all.

-You can swing the camera around 360 and zoom in and out pretty far.

-Pleasing character appearance.

-Despite a few flaws with the responsiveness of some actions in the game, the actual gameplay is pretty good. I really enjoy watching and experiencing my character in battle, whether Ranged, Close Combat, or Magic.

-Satisfying amount of loot drops. This is important. I felt that I was taken care of as far as getting new weapons and armor from killing, and don't feel I'll TRULY need to go out buying exotic weapons until at least a little while later (I'm only level 6, but still).

-Appears to be a good amount of replayability, due to a fair amount of content (weapon upgrading, raising an army, conquering actual land on the world map, sieges, etc.)

Cons: -The Character selection phase was a little bit too constraining for me. Not too many appearance and class choices, but compared to some games it's better, and I may just be incredibly spoiled by pay-to-play games like City of Villains...

-Graphics were acceptable, nothing fancy at all.

-Not a lot of initial support to explain what to do first in the game, despite the fact that there's this little fairy that follows you around for the first 10 levels and spams your chat with "helpful hints," half of which are repeated over and over and over again.

-There's this little fairy that follows you around for the first 10 levels and spams your chat with "helpful hints," half of which are repeated over and over and over again.

-Haha

-I didn't like the click-to-move system, nor the fact that you have no option to choose another way to travel.

-I didn't like the fixed camera angle. While you can swing the camera around 360 and zoom in and out pretty far, the actual angle of the camera (downward about 30 degrees) is unchangeable.

-Some features of control--selecting targets, whether to speak to them, attack them, or otherwise were unsound...not very solid. Sometimes you'll click on an NPC to chat, or click yes in a trade window, etc., and it won't work the first time.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 simply because it's still in Beta, so some issues are to be expected. Also, I gave it 4 stars because it is a free product, and I believe it should be reviewed as such. I would recommend this download.

Risk II

Despite a few flaws, this game is more than expected and very replayable. Buy it

Pros: -It's the most full-featured version of Risk you could ask for--nothing comes close.

-The graphics are well above what I expected for a board game--the battle sequences are actually enjoyable.

-There are TONS of ways to customize your experience by changing the map setup and rule settings, including things you wouldn't even think to be able to do in the board game.

-There are so many modes of play, this game has astounding replayability.

-There are even new modes of play (compared to the board version) which take Risk to a whole new level, like "Same Time" in which all players decide their moves in real time, and then depending on what you told your forces to do, and what your neighboring enemies told their forces to do, you end up with Border Clashes, Mass Invasions, Invasions, Spoils of War, and Surge Attacks, all tactically setup at certain intervals.

-Tournament Mode, which pits you against increasingly hard opponents, with game type changing often, throwing you off, sometimes you'll even play a "Same Time" game with a bunch of unique rules right after playing "Mission Risk" with the regular, nothing special rules.

-The game is only $20, which means it's cheaper than the board game by a few bucks, and contains FAR more content and replayability than any board version ever made.

Cons: -There is no Online play against other players, only LAN (this makes me want to cry).

-There is no way to change the difficulty of your opponents (this is really lame, cause though there are the exceptions, they're not extremely challenging. If I'm wrong in this, and there IS a way, someone PLEASE show me the way.)

-Honestly, I have also experienced a little bit of what a few others described as far as the computer seeming to win battles that you just lost (with the same odds as you took against them the round earlier). It is not all the time, so I'm not sure if that's just the way the dice roll sometimes, or what. Not too big of an issue for me, I play smart enough that I can usually pull out of obviously bad situations, or make a comeback after a hefty loss--just adds to the challenge.

-The game crashes on a few rare occasions, it has done it to me well into a tournament. And while you can jump right back into a tournament at any time (your progress is automatically saved), whenever I try to restart my Tournament at the last saved spot, later on the game will end up crashing at the same place without fail.

*Although I seem to have a good amount of Cons for this game, I still would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. This is a superb game. WELL worth the money payed.*
