Pros: I run a website and the CMS I use has updates, themes, modules and stuff in .tar. Windows can't unpack that by itself. I've been using WinRAR for the last two years without any issues.
It packs and unpacks very well and in all different compressions.
Cons: There used to be an annoying screen telling me to register, but since I started using the right click extraction, it has not come to haunt me.

Pros: It plays ALL the files I always needed two or more different programs for. Using WMP gets annoying sometimes when it can't play common files that almost every other program can. Then those programs can't play some files others can play and it makes you dizzy. This plays virtually everything.
Cons: A bit simple. I wish you could go frame to frame, although maybe you can and I haven't figured it out yet.

Pros: It plays files well. The ability to edit the hue, saturation and other elements of the VIDEO is impressive. Making a playlist is easy, and taking multiple caps of the videos is easy as well. Overall, it's not a bad player.
Cons: I already have VLC and JetAudio. GOM doesn't bring enough originality to make me want to switch, nor is it that far ahead of those two. It's just there. If you don't have VLC or JetAudio, the GOM is a good choice for a media player.

Pros: I had Mercora a long time ago, when you could download music that other people played. Now, you can no longer do that, but you really don't need too. The main page has options to look up artists, or look up indie artisits, which is how I found a really good band, "The Format." Also, you can select the U.S. from the main page and listen to music that is popular on the charts, which is not so good because most of the music sucks, but it's a nice touch. You can also chat with people, which is nice, if you like to talk.
Cons: The DJ options are, well, nowhere. Whenever I would put a playlist to a station, the station would decide to play something else instead.

Pros: With all the scripting and customization you can do with Mirc, I don't know why any Windows user would use anything otherwise.
Cons: The register screen is annoying, but you don't actually have to register.
