Great Workshorse, (& i prefer it for now) but it does miss some features
Pros: I have done a lot of downloading of music and doc/pdf files, due to the high DSL2 bandwidth. I have tried Limewire Pro,& Shareaza. (have not figured out BitTorrents yet) It really does seem like a compromise and each P2P software has its Pros & Cons...
What do i like about Cabos??
It Free,, No adware/spyware or other creepies,, doesnt grind your HD silly during startup like Limewire Pro,,, Quicker than LM Pro in power up and power down,,, 30% more searches returned than LM Pro (ran searches within a second apart; both programs runnning. I excluded the very obvious RIAA / MPAA planted files that were totally out of character in file size.),,, No nag screens (buy LM pro and expect a nag screen after 6 months),****** NO CPYRIGHT FILTERING ******* (Apparently LW does filter out content),,,I search many things at one time and i love that it remembers all the tabs so i dont have to retype searches the next time i re fire up the PC and hookup. For many tab searches it is the best. (quick access,& visibility )
I can not even speculate at the why or how, but it seems to make more successfull connections when i click to download an item in LM or Shareaza,,, Speeds really do vary, but some of the higher speed single links can be decently practical.
The link on this page did not get me to the genuine download site..If you want to download you need to go to sourceforge.jp/projects/cabos/
,,, which will also get you the latest version..
Cons: In some ways it is more practial than LM Pro, but it has no search options. eg; search only for docs, or search only for programs.(although you can click a button which groups the file types in the list)
I intend to try Frostwire,(which is meant to be the same as LM but without filter or cost at all) as i do like the ability to be specific in searches so as to shorten the list... The file types are not easily distiguishable,,,
Fairly plain and ugly compared to LM or shareaza,,....... I have one request of many of you newcomers to P2P;;;;; please dont attack the P2P software developers because of corrupt files on the nextwork that have nothing to do with them. Industry is employing other companies who specialise in planting fake & infested files in order to damage the efficiency of the networks, as they see it as a threat to their to their sales..... scan your downloads for virus/ trojans etc,,, and check the file sizes against what that type of file should be. the fake files dont take long to figure out.(You dont need to have a high IQ to become acustomed to most of the fakes)
