I am sick of registry cleaners...

Pros: Read cons please !

Cons: I am testing a lot of programs and runing instalation setups on my system is a common task ... so the nightmare comes up sonner or later :( I have tried almost any important registry cleaner program on the market and I can tell you the only solution is a fresh instaled operating system or using a program like Norton Gost and make from time to time a backup of your entire operating system !

Another reason for my low rate is the fact every registry cleaner on the market (including this of course) ruined my OS sooner or later.

So if you belive in fairy tales you should continue to use registry cleaners. But I think it is better to read some of the Murphy Laws and stop spending money to clean your computer when the only way to do this is to use a duster and some washing sope ...

One of the best antivirus

Pros: I think there is no antivirus software to deserve 5 stars but there are some decent antivirus programs in this world and Avast is on that list.

In a few words this is what I like about Avast :

1. The way you can customize the graphic user interface (using skins). You also have a lot of options to customize the way this product works.

2. Light on resources if you turn some features off. Take a look in the box...

3. Good virus database.

4. The updates comes up fast.

5. The realtime scaning engine is prety fast even on a Duron 800 Mhz (the computer I am using this antivirus on).

6. It has an iteresting feature "VRDB". The aim of VRDB is to help when, despite all the security measures, a virus gets inside the computer and the files are infected. With the help of VRDB, it is possible to repair infected files (return them exactly to their original state).

Cons: The way the antivirus is configured by default. There are two many system tray icons (but you can setup the antivirus to merge all the icons in a single one wich should be the default option). You should also take a closer look to the instalation setup program. Do not install some modules since it is quite posible not to use them (email scaners and so on). Email scaners are not the best (some problems comes up for me).

One of the fastest antivirus on earth!

Pros: You may download and use this product because:

- offer you free rezident protection

- it's fast (at least faster than the following antivirus i've tested: BitDefender, NOD32, Avira, Avast, Kaspersky and Norton)

- updates are downloaded for free and verry fast

- has a clean and light user interface, verry easy to use and understand

- as a result this is the best antivirus to install for slower computer

- if you install this antivirus before installing Microsoft Office you will notice into the Microsoft Office status bar a message telling you that AVG is scanning for viruses when you open documents :)

- despite the antivirus speed, AVG detects most of the viruses outthere. I am always using 2 or 3 antivirus software on the same computer (one rezident and other 2 for scanning on demand) and from time to time AVG detect some viruses not detected by the others antivirus softwares. Of course there are also situations when the others antivirus softwares detect viruses not detected by AVG... I belive there is no antivirus over there to detect 100% of viruses. If somebody pretend something like this, it's a lie and it's just marketing for selling the product.

- i am using AVG from 3 years and I can tell you improvments comes up fast. This is a solution you can trust long time from now on. Also every new version is better than before and free. In 3 years of using AVG, this antivirus never crushed on my computer. I installed AVG on Windows 2000, XP or XP SP2 always succesfully.

If you don't like this antivirus software but you are looking for another FREE solution you may try one of the following products:

- AVAST

- Avira (search for free version)

- BitDefender 10 free edition (this one does not offer resident protection, only scan on demmand ... very good to use with AVG installed)
