FOLDER LOCK 8.90 IS FRAUDULANT

Pros: Cute interface, nearly bordering on the childish.

Cons: Files in the applications' Locker are NEITHER scrambled, NOR encrypted. Also, they are easily viewed in their original format by having Windows configured to show hidden files and folders, or accessing them in plain view for all to see via a Linux operating system live CD accessing the same Windows machine Folder Lock is installed on with all its contents.

My observations have been reported many times by others commenting about this and previous versions of this application. CNet has put its credibility on the line with me for failing to pick up this application's confirmed failures and awarding it a four star rating.

In short this application simply does not deliver the core features that it promises, and its shortfalls are long standing and confirmed by many past reviewers. To me, its plain and simple fraud.

CAN EASILY BE DEFEATED

Pros: Nice, original user interface

Cons: Supposedly hidden files in the application's Locker can all be seen intact when they are accessed from a Linux platform. I hid files using this application on my Windows XP based PC and from a CD version of Ubuntu Linux, all those "hidden" files were completely visible.

The previous version of this product has also been severely and rightly condemned by another user review at Download.com for the same reason. Obviously the developper has been unable or unwilling to resolve this major deficiency so far.

This is a "user beware" product.

FREE UPGRADE POLICY IS NOT HONOURED

Pros: Cute interface.

Cons: The purchase of earlier versions 5.x of this applications came with a guaranteed lifetime free upgrade to all future versions. Upgrade to version 6.0 from version 5.9.5 was offered only at full price.
