X-Plane

Version: 8.6

Outstanding!!! Linux .. Mac and Windows!!!

Pros: Being a converted Linux user now for over 3 years, the only thing that stopped me from a full Linux conversion was Microsoft Flight Simulator. With this product, the full Linux conversion is now complete and I love it! This product was better than I was led to believe!

Cons: Do not make this your first FS. You should know basic flight. More documentation would be nice. and the last con.. the PRICE!

Netscape Browser 8.0

A very nice change... I think they are onto something!!

Pros: When choosing a browser these days, security should be paramount. In this case... it is. I read a post about AOL spying and I do not see this. When I used IE, I would get about 30 or so adware programs. I used McAfee Antispyware AND Adware SE to check and clean. I recieved less adware with Firefox but still got it. Using this browser... for the first time...visiting the same web sites, I came up with 0. I am going to continue checking but so far... I love it!

Like Firefox, it takes a bit longer than IE to load up... but what is a couple of seconds when you consider a safe browsing experience.

The fact that the browser switches from Firefox to IE is great. Many sites, especially insurance and benefits sites, do not support Firefox so switching to IE was a smart move.

While some say it is a bit busy as far as the nav area is concerned, you can change this around.

Opening windows (Tabs) is fast and easy and the toolbar on the bottom alerting you as to what is going on is nice.

I have not used Netscape since 4.7 and the last one I looked at, 6.0, was simply too long to load.

Firefox is a nice browser...and I am not going to bad mouth it. The only two drawbacks I have with Firefox are 1) inability to view many IE sites as stated above and 2) far too many extensions are required (40 to 50) to have it work the way you want it and this slows that browser down considerably upon load.

Netscape has finaly come up with a browser I can live with... for now. Made me switch from IE despite what the editor said!

Cons: Takes a little tweaking to get it just the way you want it. But once you do... wow

Also, the one annoying feature that I have not figured out how to shut down is the passcard/auto-fill. While useful in some instances...it gets annoying.... and not needed most times.

Had to re-download adobe reader so that it would properly interact with Netscape.

If you are looking for speed on the net....Firefox

BUT...if you are looking for security... this browser so far has it! I am sold!
