SETI@home

Version: 5.2.13

Not useful with the average computer

Cons: This program WAS in its earlier form a very good little prog, before it somehow developed into a monster. Somehow it went from being a very small screensaver/math processing system to something that seems to tax even the best computers available for home use. It is difficult to impossible to get it to connect to its server, it uses up from 45% up of your processing power, and it taxes your computer physically by causing overheating. I would give it a negative star of that were possible.

Couldn't get it to work

Pros: Nothing

Cons: After repeated downloads, it still would not let me log in, nor respond in any way

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition demo

After multiple downloads, will still not run.

Pros: Nothing positive as, after several tries, it would not download into something that would act like a program, always acted like a document.

Cons: Could never play it.

Ocean Wolf

Version: 3

Like Dodge-car

Pros: Decent 2-D graphic setup

Cons: This is more a "dodge-car" than a shooter game. Under the heading of "Help", the instructions are very plain but when one tries to aim or change guns, the boat continues to shoot at an unseen target not yet reached. There is no aiming control, all you can do is dodge the ships and gun emplacements and hope that you hit something.

Mozilla Firefox

Version: 2

Excellent browser, lots of goodies to add, reportedly more secure than IE.

Pros: There are, as of this moment, no drawbacks that I have found in using Firefox. Have used betas and regular releases with no glitches, has consistantly out-performed IE in all respects.

Cons: Will occasionally get a "warning" that a web site is not configured for or optimized for Firefox, but have not had any problems when actually viewing said web sites.
