VirtualBox

Version: 1.5.4

The best virtualization tool

Pros: Simple interface. Supports many guest and host OSs. It can assign selected USB ports or devices to the guest OSs. It can capture current state of an OS and save it for backup. It has "Guest Additions" software to be installed on guest OSs which supports many functions like "mouse integration" (which auto-adjusts resolution of guest OS to match the window size). Easy network connections.

Cons: Very difficult file transfer between the real and guest OSs.

Foxit PDF Reader

Version: 2.2 build 2129

A very fast PDF viewer

Pros: Much faster than Adobe PDF Reader. It has the same functions with Adobe Reader but uses system resources much more efficiently: It opens a document at 1 sec while Adobe Reader does at 5 sec on the same computer. It has _no_ compatibility issues with .pdf documents - it opens them same as Adobe Reader does.

AVG Anti-Spyware

Version: 7.5.1.43

A good free anti-spyware software

Pros: Good related functions like "running processes" and "system startup applications". Good recognization of spyware.

Cons: No real-time protection in the free version which causes harmful programs to be detected only after they are installed.

Opera

Version: 9.2

Better than all other browsers...

Pros: Opera is as fast as Mozilla Firefox. It is very easy to use and configure Opera. Opera is a much more lightweight than Firefox. Its launch speed is as high as IE7, which is Windows's own browser. But Firefox starts slower than Opera, when it is full of add-ons, which may cause some problems. Opera has a variety of INTEGRATED features, including mouse gestures, page-view styles, page scaling (like IE7). In addition, Opera never ends with an error-report message like Firefox or IE7 sometimes does.

Opera is the best web browser (and an e-mail program like Outlook). I can say this because I have been testing both three browsers (IE7, Firefox, and Opera) for a few months.

Cons: Opera has MINOR compatibility issues like Firefox in some pages and I would like Opera to be able to switch an IE-based display engine in that pages, like Netscape does.

Opera

Version: 9.02

It is better than firefox and IE7

Pros: ***

***This program is faster than the others: Its speed is more than twice of Firefox. You can configure it to view the pages instantanously or with x seconds intervals so that the page does not seem changing while it is loading.

***

***You can block ads or some images you don't want to see: It recognizes the folders or locations of images and blocks them.

***

***It allows you to change the styles of pages: You can easily switch 'the user mode' so that you see that page with your predefined style (images, colors, fonts, links, headings...). It can view web pages with no images, only the catched images or all of them. Furthermore, it can fit pages to screen (no horizontal scrolling) and zoom in/out to pages without changing their layout.

***

***It has a customisable password manager: You enter detailed information of you, and Opera enters them in any forms. It also asks you to remember the username and password on a specific page, if 'yes', the next time it submits them with [Ctrl]+[Enter].

***

***It is very customisable: You can change toolbar's positions buttons, icon sizes, and other options like wrapping to many lines or showing the extender menu. In addition, you can add/remove panels (side bar), select from predefined search enngines, or even define other search engines. On the other hand, you can find lots of skins from its own 'apperance' window. You can modify the colors and icon sizes of existing skins, and change interface fonts.

***

***You can customise 'voice' shortcuts, the keyboard shortcuts and 'mouse gestures': You can define new button configurations, and also mouse gestures (for example, to go back, hold the right mouse button and move it to left or press the right button while holding the left button wherever you want in a web page). 'Voice' means you can spell a shortcut in English and Opera recognizes it.

Cons: A few pages are not compatible with Opera (they only run with IE).
