Knight Online

Version: 1.299

APPALLING

Pros: It's Free

Cons: In no particular order:

*Horrendous lag;

*Repetitive and Pointless game play. You wander around find a bunch of monster standing by the roadside, and then you fight them, get xp and move onto the next - zzZZZZ;

*Rampant cheating;

*Incredibly buggy;

*Rude gamers.

*Absolutely NO input from the game developers or admins. Just take a look at the official forums - like talking to a brick wall.

If you tally all user reviews the game has an average star rating of less than 3 (not 3.5 as the site says). Just read the reviews and look at how many 1 star ratings there are. This game is a real stinker -“ avoid it like bird flu. Now if you want a brilliant free game, download Wolfenstein: enemy territory.

Navy Field Resurrection of the Steel Fleet

Version: 1.114

Needs Work

Pros: I first played Navy Field when it was still in its beta stage and it was at best OK. As a game it has a fairly unique yet simple premise: buy a ship, go to battle, get points/money and then buy a better ship.

As you and your team-mates steam around the playing field, trying to blow the enemy out of the water, all action is viewed from a slightly skewed birds-eye angle.

The variety of potential ships to purchase is huge, and the customisation, e.g. guns, armour, etc., only adds to this.

Cons: The main flaw of the game is the waiting involved before each battle. This can often be 10-15 minutes. Then there is the inevitable arguing over "unbalanced" teams and what ships should go were. This goes on and on and usually decends into insults. An auto-balance function would seem to slove this instead of leaving it down to an individual.

Lag and bug issues (may be sorted in the release version - doubt it though)

Rude gamers

Lack of a comprehensive manual

Slightly repetitive

Personally I don't think it's worth forking out the cash every month. Then again, I point blank refuse to play ANY game that requires subscriptions. Some people loved this game! It's worth the download as the 30 levels you get with the trial will give you HOURS of gaming to help you decide.

Pacific Storm demo

Good premise yet a bit confusing

Pros: The game is comprised of a number of different elements: strategy (click and point), management and first hand combat. This make it fairly unique in my experience.

The demo is a decent lenght.

Cons: There are a number of annoying things in this game that prevent me from giving it a higher rating. Namely:

You should be able to pilot planes by the mouse. I find using keys difficult, especially in dogfights against fighters.

The in game controls for the other aspects of the game (e.g. management) are messy and confusing.

The tutorials, especially in the management section, are rubbish.

Sound is repetitive.

iTunes for Windows

Version: 7

Dire

Pros: No pros over iTunes 6

Cons: This release has ruined one of the very best media players out there. Every time I conjointly listen to music and open a new web page the sound becomes distorted and crackly (and I'm not short of RAM either). So many people are having problems with installing this update, and even then it is buggy. DON'T INSTALL this ***** update until the problems are sorted; stick with iTunes 6 instead.

Rig Racer 2 demo

Version: 1.1

A Weak Game at Best :(

Pros: Not much to recommend in this game, to be honest. The damage is a nice feature, I guess. I'm not really into racing games, but people that are MAY enjoy this.

Cons: Never having driven a truck at 150 mph i can't say with any certiantly, but in-game the handling is terrible and seems unrealistic. The controls are rubbish, as are the graphics and sound.

Avoid!!
