msn4us Winks

Contains A Hijacker.

Pros: Psh... didn't even unzip it.

Cons: Scanned with ewido anti-malware 3.5. Three files scanned (as its a zip archive), 1 infected with Hijacker.Delf.eg. Threat level high. Deleted. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

How Popular Are Your Favourite Bands?

Pros: First, I'd like to say that I found NO adware/spyware/malware of any sort in this program. Other reviews were complaining of Trojans, but after scanning both the install file and the folder I installed it to with ewido, a2, and Norton, I found no trace of anything.

That said, on to rating the actual program. The program itself is very easy to use, with a nice simple interface. It finds many popular bands. Among the bands I found songs for were Greenday, Linkin Park, Mariah Carey (I know, not a band), and Underoath. Results can easily be sorted by artist name and track name.

Cons: If you are like me, however, you don't necessarily listen to the most popular of bands. In searches for Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Protest the Hero, nothing came up. As well, searching for a band that I felt was popular, City and Color, I found nothing. Well, nothing that related to my search at least.

As well, sometimes (well, often) the artist/track names are wrong.

You are limited to 1000 results for your search, although I suppose this can also be considered a good thing, as you probably don't want to look through 10 million results.

Minor thing, but even though I'm sure I told it not to put a desktop icon, it did anyways. That part might just be my fault though.

Screen Doodler

Version: 1.0

If You Can Find A Use For It, Get It

Pros: Easy to use, allows you to write things on screen by simply using your mouse. May help kill time for a few minutes if you're bored.

Cons: You cannot change the size or colour of the lines you draw with this program. Text/pictures you draw cannot be saved, short of doing a screenshot. The screen behind the drawing you are making does not update until you exit doodle mode (I didn't expect it to, but it would be nice if it did).

Wallpaper Swap

Yeah.... Uhhhh.... Was This Supposed To Do Something?

Pros: Nice... interface?

Cons: Ok, this didn't work. After I went about finding 6 pictures I wanted for my backgrounds, I had to convert them all to .bmp, which was a little bit of a hassle. Then I put all six into the "My Pictures" section of the program, set the interval to 10 seconds, hit the "Start" button, closed the program (foolishly assuming it would save my settings and work in the background) and waited. And waited. Nothing happened. I opened the program again, and all of my settings, pictures, etc. had been reset. I went about re-importing the pictures, changed the timer interval to 10 seconds, left the program open, and waited. And waited. Again, nothing happened. To summarize: I couldn't get it to work.

Good For A One-Time Use

Pros: Lots of different packs to choose from, no spyware (hooray!), installs the emoticons good.

Cons: I'm using an older version of MSN (7.0, I believe... the one before the voice clips) as Windows 2000 won't let me upgrade, but, at least in my version, the emoticon fonts are fairly useless, as you can only send five custom emoticons per message.

RARELY updates. I've had this for about a year, and under the "latest packs" heading, there are only three that weren't there when I downloaded this program.
