AdSubtract Pro

Version: 3.06

New AdSub Ver 3 is Junk-Ware!

Pros: Previous versions of AdSubtract were great, performing as advertised.

Cons: After purchase, the trail version of AdSubtract will not activate, remaining on trail status and then going dead after 30 days. (Online buyers have to download trail versions...which supposedly can be 'activated' after purchase...but won't activate.)

Tech support is very poor: only emails that provide 'form' answers that do not solve the problem.

After purchasing AdSubtract OVER 30 DAYS AGO, the product still will not activate. And the manufacturer will NOT issue a refund.

WARNING...Intermute turned a great product into Junk-ware!

Acronis True Image Home

Version: 11

REFUSES TO INSTALL and DAMAGES REGISTRY

Pros: Since every installation failed, I can't say whether or not Acronis True Image ver. 11 Home works as advertised.

Cons: I wanted to make a back-up after doing a clean install of Win XP. So, I purchased a 'download' copy directly from Acronis' web site. The installation failed near completion. Enough of Acronis was installed to create problems, but not enough was installed for Acronis to appear in Add/Remove Programs. Contacted Acronis tech support through their web site's Live Chat. Direct contact via telephone costs you. The Live Chat tech recommended downloading an Acronis clean-up utility, but that didn't help either. The next guy recommended a modified procedure of performing a second installation, but that failed too...and truly made my PC unstable...even to the point of freezing upon shutdown. Well, the long & short of it is, I am glad I made a back-up of the registry with XP's native utility...which probably saved me from doing another clean install. IS ACRONIS A GOOD PRODUCT??? Other reviews would tell you so...and maybe I would agree if the darn software would install on my PC...but I am not risking another installation attempt!
