Registry Mechanic

Version: 4.0

much better than its earlier version!!!!!!

Pros: i had registry mechanic 4.0 which used to scan the registry very well. but when i downloaded the 5.0 version i was surprised to see a lot more advanced features like optimizing the registry and it also had a more well defined and advanced search....

Cons: in the trialware version it does detect all the major and minor problems and allows us only to correct minor problems...the developers have to stand up and take notice that such method of providing trialware may not promote their product much...Instead allow the software to correct ALL THE FLAWS for a limited period of time like for example a 15-day trial...

WinASO Registry Optimizer

Version: 2.5

king of registry cleaners...

Pros: X.M.Y international has always doled out great versions of this product, and the new winaso registry optimizer is the perfect example to this claim. With all the neat features of cleaning junk registries,it also comes with all additional diagnostic utilites for repairing the system and also

optimizing performance for internet explorer, another additional utility SPEED UP SYSTEM is also present where you can optimize internet connection, speed up windows shut-down,loading internet explorer pages and lots more...it also provides shortcuts for all the utilites like registry editor, system restore, disk cleanup, disk defragmenter and also for system information..what's more it also has the option of which registry keys to ignore and you can physically add or remove any of the keys if you are an expert in handling window's registry..so this is an all in all tool!!

Cons: could have extended the error correction to 20 errors in the trial version..

Cucusoft MPEG/MOV/RMVB/DIVX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Pro

Version: 7.07

awkward name and awkward function

Pros: though the program cannot convert between the .rmvb and other formats it surely converts between .avi and other formats

Cons: at first it recognised the real player files..but after some time the software prompted me to download a codec which i did.. even then this software was not able to recognise the codec and i had no choice but to remove the software from my computer...and the other backlog of this software was that they should have allowed the user to try the software out for a limited period say 15-20 days and then prompt the user to buy the software instead of that they put a huge watermark in the middle of the converted video which is kind of irritating..in my opinion xilisoft rm converter is a much much better program than this...

MediaMonkey

Version: 2.5.2.951

epitome of superb-software!!

Pros: It's got everything you would expect even in your wildest dreams. I was looking for an mp3 converter when i stumbled upon this software. At first,i thought it was only used for tagging all the songs, but i realised that it triples up as an media player-cum-mp3 converter-song database manager. Now we will discuss about each one of this features in a little detail.

The media player has got the features of every modern player you would find on the internet,it is complete with an equalizer with a whole lot of presets and plays all the available formats(including ogg and flac) unlike for the windows media player where you have to download a separate codec from oggvorbis.com.

The mp3 converter is something worth mentioning here as it can convert from various bitrates(8 kbps to 32 kbps) and converts between the 5 popular formats(wma,mp3,ogg,flac,wav),the sound quality is also notable.

Now coming to the most desirable feature, the song tagger and database manager. After installing the software it asks for the option of searching the computer for songs. It brings to its database manager all music files which you had dumped somewhere and forgot about it.It has an option to tag files and it also shows the files in individual directories like (album-not tagged,artist-not tagged,title-not tagged) and so on. The most interesting feature i found out in this software is auto-sleep.You can set a particular(time) or number of songs you want to hear and after the software plays this songs it automatically turns off the computer.A really useful thing,if you want to listen to songs and doze off into a deep sleep.

But one thing kept me wondering. They offered these many features for FREE!!!!! wonder what they would offer in the paid version?????

Cons: nope!!

McFunSoft Audio Studio

Version: 5.3

inconsistent operations!!!

Pros: First of all i would like to congratulate the developers for developing an easy understandable interface. The cd ripper works good but the converter and burner are not good.

Cons: Let me quote you an example why i did not like the product very much. When i tried to convert two songs thru the audio converter application i used one of their presets (112 kbps,44100 hertz). When i got the songs onto my mp3 player one song was playing at 112 kbps(alright!!) but the other was wavering from 96 KBPS TO 256 KBPS,which i think is a serious flaw(I would rather use EASY CD-DA) for this purpose. The other application was the cd burner. I burned a few songs on a rewritable cd and the next time i inserted the cd on to the computer it was blank. I was really astonished on seeing this. I checked my CD DRIVE properties and i saw that the cd was full(to about 300 k.b.). What the hell is going on!!!! i burned about 200 MB of mp3 songs and it is showing only 300 kb and so as the two major applications were fallacious i decided to remove the software.
