ReadPlease 2003

Version: 1.1

THIS IS ONE SWEET APP!!

Pros: I like to record long text with an app like "Total Recorder" (TR is GREAT btw} and play it back with an mp3 player or burn it to CD then play it back when I run or go shopping. If you really want ReadPlease to rock get "Audrey" the 16k British AT&T broadband voice, her voice is just AMAZING. She's the best of the AT&T voices, by far imho. This is one of the very coolest app's that I've owned (I had the previous version also). Works with PDF files also.

Cons: Now I just need a good OCR so I can do my own books-on-tape. Con's? Comparing the installed voices to the 16k AT&T broadband voices is like comparing an AM radio broadcast to quality FM sound.

MORE CORPORATE SPYWARE GARBAGE

Pros: YOU WILLING BECOME A TOOL OF ADVERTISERS, HMMM, SOUND GOOD?

Cons: Seriously, you have to be a few fries short of a Happy Meal if you wiillingly expose your computer to spyware, regardless, even if you like cats, dogs, flying monkeys, whatever.

GARBAGE.

RocketTime

Version: 1.1

WONDERFUL, WOULD NOT HAVE A PC WITHOUT IT

Pros: Sweet and the fact that it's free is sweeter yet.

Tons of user configurable time servers.

Does not need to be running at startup...use as needed at your leisure.

Gets along well with Norton Internet Security.

You really need to try this app.

Puts Microsoft's internet time synchronizer to shame.

Cons: I have not a clue why a multi-thousand $$$ computer with a 3.4 gHz chip, Intel mb and PC3200 RAM can not keep accurate time on it's own, too funny.

RocketTime a FREE app will fix that forever.

ThroughClock

Version: 1.78

ATTN: VER 2.12 FOR XP SP 2 IS AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE

Pros: Click the authors site, listed a "none" there you will find an Asian script page, but if you look around you will see "ThC212 .exe XP SP2" in color and as a hyper link. This is a great clock with customizable colors for the hands, sizes too. Yes there is a second hand option. The only thing that is not customizable is the clock size itself, but I like the non invasive size anyway. I would highly recommend this download, the author really codes well and had put together a very, very nice FREE desktop clock.

Cons: Not a con if you are familiar with the Asian language, otherwise it's a bit of a discovery process to access the custom options. But it's not like your going to crash your system changing the colors/font size, lol.

FeedDemon

Version: 1.5

Clean, polished, well laid out...as always you get what you pay for.

Pros: I can only compare this to Pluck and I think you should try it first too.

(Just make sure you save your OPML file :)

Then try FeedDemon....as is the case in life, most often you get what you pay for.

This Aggregator is actually FUN to use and a snap to configure.

Using FeedDemon makes me think "Apple" in terms of sensibly, user friendliness and sophistication.

This product is a joy to use and I would highly recommend you to try it and see for yourself.

Cons: I'm not dissing the previous poster, but I'm a little puzzled with his 2" browser window conundrum.

You can mouse drag the window size to your liking.

Maybe he's got a mirco-notebook with a 5" screen?
