Actual Transparent Window

Get Windowblinds instead

Pros: Makes windows tranparent

Cons: Not worth the price. Get Windowblinds and Object Desktop. They can completely change your desktop

IconX

Version: 1.1

Great with Object Desktop

Pros: It makes desktop icons look a whole lot better.

Cons: Has a few bugs. Not really worth the price. I recommend getting Object Desktop at stardock.com because it includes this and many other programs that completely change your desktop.

Opera

Version: 8.0

Ahhh, a breath of fresh air

Pros: I cannot write about all of them, but here are a few high points:

1. Tabbed browsing which opens everything in the same window. (In my opinion, it is much more flexible than Firefox or other tabbed browsers because there are many other ways to use them without having to install anything else)

2. Very clean and customizable interface (much better than the last version). It can appear any way that you want it to. Skins also are fantastic and can be applied immediately to test them out before keeping them.

3. Wand, a password saver, keeps passwords and lets them be used by simply pushing a few keyboard buttons.

4. Speed. It loads complicated pages very quickly.

5. Numerous other hidden features and actually has many of the plug-ins that Firefox has (see Opera's forums).

(Sorry if I sound like an Opera salesman, but I really like Opera.)

Cons: 1. Opera does not work with some websites, but its features outweigh this problem.

2. The ads that it shows in the freeware version might turn away some people, but they are really small and do not take up too much space and can actually be useful because they are contextual to what page you are viewing.

3. Okay, okay, it may not be 100% free because you have to get rid of the small ads and to get Premium support from Opera (the forums actually can be just as useful for a quick, direct response).

Opera (Java)

Version: 7.54

The best browser that has been made!

Pros: Mouse gestures save time when browsing, can save sessions, very customizable

Cons: Some websites don't work with it, but that doesn't take away from its other features.

DesktopX

Version: 3.0

A great program

Pros: I really like the program because it allows you to customize your desktop almost any way you would want. I do have one question about the demo, though. It is shareware, but what makes it shareware? I cannot find the answer anywhere on Stardock's or Download.com's website.
