Securepoint Personal Firewall & VPN Client

Dangerous! Does not work with XP SP2!

Pros: Downloaded, installed well. I read and speak German, no problems. Turned off XP's own crappy firewall as instructed.

Cons: Program caused errors and threw system into a constant reboot-load-reboot loop which was only defeated by going into SAFE mode and uninstalling this foul piece of *****. This company needs to readdress the issue and Download should be totally ashamed for not putting warnings out on links that are incompatible with XP's SP2 (as I found out this was by visiting the Microsoft Knowledge Base after all of this). Download/CNet, you are leaving yourself open to legal liabilities this way...

NOT REALLY FREE

Pros: Beautiful product. Elegant. Informative. RICH IN FEATURES, BUT!!!!...

Cons: Not really free. You cannot publish your work anywhere but on their own hosting system, which means you must move your website to VODAHOST. Very sad and a gimmick.

Master Album Maker Lite Edition

Not freeware - Trialware!

Pros: This is an in-depth, well-designed program. Publish stand-alone, CD or to web easily. Great effects and more.

Cons: NOT FREEWARE. This is trialware. The publishing ability ends after 15 days after which time purchase is required. The VIEWER (needed to see their own file format) is freeware, but nothing else. I wish Download would check these things more responsibly and thoroughly.

Avast Home Edition

Problems glaroe

Pros: While it downloads, opens, installs, even updates flawlessly, it does not find some major viruses and also slows down your system quite a bit during its e-mail scans.

Cons: Internet Explorer experienced a severe lagtime using this program and some other software (notably TaxCut) experienced loading lags in excess of two-three minutes! I uninstalled this software after buying something else, I guess you do get what you pay for...

They lost it

Pros: Easy install, and easy interface

Cons: Slows down system performance to a c-r-a-w-l even in light mode. Caused a lot of problems with XP, so even though I had paid for this (29.95/1 year), I dumped it and would not recommend it to anyone.
