Cheetah CD Burner

Version: 4.12

Doesn't work at all, garbage

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: It crashed everytime I tried to run it. Don't listen to the reviews that say it's great, they are written by employees of Cheetah!

Mp3 My Mp3 Recorder

Version: 2.0

Yuck

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Why call it "My mp3" when it only outputs in wave format? And poor quality at that.

iRadio

Version: 1.3

Great program, easy to use, but...

Pros: Exactly what I was looking for. All the other programs I checked out would only record streaming radio into one big file and left it up to me to chop them up into individual songs. What a pain. iRadio recognizes the tracks and puts them into nice, neat mp3 files. It even segragates the ones that were truncated for whatever reason into a separate directory.

Cons: So why didn't it work the next day? Nothing was changed, I was well within my trial period, but when I ran the program, it wouldn't connect to the same online radio station. I fiddled with the URL and got it to connect, but it would not recognize tracks, even though the "recognize tracks" box was checked. Had to uninstall, reinstall it to get it to log on to the same streaming radio station and function the way it was supposed to.

Most of the preset stations in its database don't work. Of the few that did, I wasn't interested in them. That didn't really matter to me because I already had one that I was interested in recording.

Other cons: When I emailed 3alab about the problem I outlined above, they sent me an email pointing out that the entire IRadio project is for sale on eBay.

VLC Media Player

Version: 0.8.6d

Simple, easy to use, but couldn't d/l it from here.

Pros: Much easier than that recalcetrant WMP.

Cons: None with the program, but I couldn't download it from here, went to filehippo to download it.
