Does its job well--and for free

Pros: I have spyware removers. However, many of the free spyware removers don't provide real-time protection or blocking. Spywareblaster fills that void. That's why I find the editor's review ridiculous. I don't need it to remove spyware. There are dozens of good, free apps out there to do that. However, those apps often don't include the feature that Spywareblaster provides. When using free tools, it is often necessary to have multiple single-function tools. There's nothing wrong with that.

I also like that the program doesn't bug me with a bunch of pop-ups trying to "prove" that it's working. I just want it to do its job and leave me alone. It does.

I've been using this app for so long, I've forgotten what it was like before I had it. In fact, it's been so long, that I can't even remember when I first installed it. All I know is that I've now run it on 3 different machines and I recommend it to others.

Cons: In all the years I've used this app, I've yet to find a negative.

Bad Build

Pros: Zone Labs name.

Cons: Go to the user support forum at Zone Labs site and read all the posts from people having horrible problems with this program. It doesn't install right. (You have to do 10 different kinds of fiddling--including messing with the registry, which is NEVER a good idea for the inexperienced.) It causes conflicts with Windows XP. It's a horrible build. Find an earlier version of the software. ZoneAlarm firewall was a good product. Both the free and paid versions are no longer usable at this point.

Good for use in tandem with another spyware remover

Pros: The program is very easy to use, and it has a nice feature set--including a feature that lets you prevent changes to the registry by whitelisting and blacklisting programs. I've never had the problems with bugginess that Cnet's reviewer describes.

Cons: It has a tendency to miss things. It should not be your only spyware solution. It must be used in concert with one or more other removers/blockers.
