Paint Shop Pro

Version: 9.0

Well designed product

Pros: One of the best photo imaging products on the market, at a fraction of the cost of Adobe Photoshop CS. This can do as much, if not more than Photoshop. I really liked the new noise removal feature, works great. And of course carried over from version 8 is one step automatic processing, it will do everything at a touch of a button! Amazing.

Cons: Uses quite a bit of memory, don't even consider using this unless you have at least 256 Megabits of memory, I personally have 512 and even with that is is a bit slow!

Netscape Browser 8.0

Very buggy

Pros: None that I can think of.

Cons: Where do I start? First off, my scroll feature on my Compaq laptop would not work with version 8, but will work fine with 7.2. I find Netscape 8 loads pages slower than 7.2. And worst of all, when I installed it my computer, it slowed down my whole computer. So needless to say it ain't on my computer no more. Just a note, I had tried one of the beta versions of version 8 and found similar problems, seems nothing has changed. Guess I'll stick with version 7.2 for now. Bye the way, I recently purchased 7.2 off their store, just in case they decide to stop offering it in the future.

F-Prot Antivirus

Version: 3.16a

Very effective antivirus program

After using Norton and having it crash on me continually, I was happy to go back to F-Prot. This excellent program, runs good under any operating system without using up mega amounts of memory. The products real-time scanner works well, and has caught many a pesky virus. If all the rest have failed, try this great antivirus program.

Norton AntiVirus

Version: 2005

Could not get it to work

I am very surprised at how terrible this product ran on my computer, or should I say didn't run. I could not get it to work at all. The computer would continually freeze up during the boot up sequence. When my 2003 version of Norton has expired, it's F-prot for me. This program taxes your computers resources way too much. I am trying to run it using Windows 98 with 160 meg's of memory. You would think that would be enough, but I guess not. Good bye Norton!
