I support the project but PG2 is so buggy.

Pros: An incredibly comprehensive blocklist for P2P, Spyware, Ads and Educational IP addresses. With the default lists it now blocks well over 1 billion addresses which simply shouldn't be talking to your PC for any legitimate purpose.

Cons: As much as I support the project (and have been using PG2 for many years) it's just so buggy. You get errors with the number of IPs blocked, 0 IPs blocked, lists not being available, having to recover PG, not blocking when it should be, the list goes on.

Not any better than windows task manager.

Pros: Has a safety bar to indicate whether a process is a virus or trojan. It's not clear where it gets this information from though. You can comment each process to remind you what it is. Free.

Cons: Apart from the aformentioned bar, there isn't any additional information about processes listed. So if you click on a common process such as scvhost.exe, it gives you "no information", explorer.exe "no information", it hasn't even got basic information.

Good but needs refinement. Just use Google Picassa.

Pros: This is a very well put together program with great support and can be picked up easily. It will let you batch process an entire folder of images using the image tray feature and you can tweak a lot of aspects of each image as you do this.

The resulting images are compressed down to much smaller filesizes without loosing any quality.

Cons: Having said all this there are quite a lot of drawbacks. It associates itself to every single image filetype in existence and destroys your file associations which you may have taken months to get right! I consider this a violation of my computer rights. You can change this in the options very easily but when you click ok no changes have been made which is odd.

You can also do most of the features of this application with Picassa and I didn't realise it, but Picassa can also batch process as well (which is what attracted me to this app).
