be careful. WARNING be careful WARNING be careful WARNING be careful

Pros: this is a long story, but if you just want to recover files from a flash drive or memory stick, i'm betting that this software will work like a champ.

my story started when linux wanted to put a multiboot loader on my boot drive's partition. don't ask. suffice it to say i couldn't get it off, and when i forced the issue with a mbr tool, i lost my drive. the drive was partitioned into operating system and data partitions. i restored the o.s., but couldn't access the data. i used this program to recover the data but it wiped out the o.s. partition. IT WILL NOT RESTORE A LOGICAL DRIVE, BUT THE WHOLE PHYSICAL ONE. no problem, as just reinstalled another o.s. yes, i did get my data back. yes, this program is helping me piecemeal my system back together. i am guessing that i used it not for it's intended purpose. i'm guessing it will work just fine if you only want to recover a memory stick. i didn't give it 5 stars because it needs to warn you before it does it's thing. and the interface is NOT intuitive. it works, and it's not a toy.

Cons: contrary to what you read here, this program is NOT idiot proof,

it is NOT dos based. there is no dos. it's the old fashioned menu you don't remember ? it was too long ago ?

the documentation is on another directory. look at the extract, go to another branch, you'll find your documentation there.

WILL NOT RESTORE A PARTITION, BUT THE ENTIRE PARTITION TABLE OF THE DRIVE. you can take that information to the bank.

if one of your partitions works, and another doesn't, BACKUP the data on the working partition before trying to recover the lost one. you may recover the sought after partition, but lose your other working partitions.

easy to use

Pros: straightforward

Cons: 1. if your partition or file allocation table is corrupted, missing, etc. this program isn't going to work for you.

2. all the files are dumped to the main window. no directory structure. would like to recover a directory tree off a corrupted ntfs partition, but not with this program.
