AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
Version: 7.289A Anti-Virus which really works.
Pros: It is one of a kind software. due to some trojans, i wasn't able to run norton, mc afee, spyware doctor, bug doctor and many more. the best names in anti-virus field failed in front of this trojan. AVG removed all these trojans in it first scan. my computer is back to normal.
the best part about the software is:
1)Frequent Updates
2)Good Detection of Viruses, Trojans,Spyware
3)It is for free
4)Much faster than Norton, Mc Afee
5)Can run silently in the back without disturbing the user.
in a nutshell, a must for every computer
Cons: it should have a better Graphic User Interface. it should look nice to the eyes. it can be a little confusing for a novice.

Cons: 1)it does not convert rm files to any format
2)after downloading the setup file, its file type is unknown.
